High Tide is a spacious contemporary restaurant in Gilbert, Az. I was excited when I walked in last night because it was great looking but disappointed when I discovered it was not great tasting. The service was good but the food lacked taste.
Our appetizers were: crab cake served with micro mixed greens, fried avocado and lemon aioli and stemed mussels in butter sauce. The appetizers were nicely plated and the spicy Bloody Mary were well seasoned. However, the main course left much to be desired. The short ribs tasted like pot-roast and lacked presentation. The New England clam chowder was just thick and nothing more. The fried oysters had lots of breading and nothing else. The mixed fries, regular and sweet potato were lightly salted. That was the most seasoned part of the meal. The side of mac & cheese was okay. Lastly, the surf and turf burger didn’t quite sit right and after the second bite that’s just where we left it on the plate unfinished. So if you’re interested in saving your hard earned money opt for the beach and watch the high tide.
