Apple Butter & Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup plain yogurt

1 large ripe banana, sliced and frozen, plus more for topping

6 dried dates, pitted

2 tbsp. apple butter

6 large ice cubes

Pinch of kosher salt

Miniature chocolate chips, for topping

Instructions:

Process yogurt, frozen banana slices, dates, apple butter, ice cubes and salt in blender until smooth. Pour mixture evenly into 2 glasses. Top with more banana slices and chocolate, if desired.

    1. Apple butter is a highly concentrated form of apple sauce produced by long, slow cooking of apples with cider or water to a point where the sugar in the apples caramelizes, turning the apple butter a deep brown.
